Elyse had her Christmas performance at school on Friday night. She has been working hard at school and home to learn her songs and dance moves and she did great! We are so proud of her. The director of the school warned me last week that she would describe the Christmas performance as "Black Friday at church" and to come early to get a good seat. She wasn't exaggerating! There was a line to get in by the time we got there an hour before the performance began! As each class got up to perform, there was a mad rush of parents with their cameras to the front of the church. At one point I heard the director repeatedly asking people not to rush the isle. It was pretty entertaining but these little ones definitely stole the show!
Elyse and her class sang "I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas."
Dancing...
and singing her little heart out.
Then they sang, "Oh Holy Night" which Elyse has been calling, "A Whole New Night" for weeks.
"Fall on your knees..."
We noticed that somehow Elyse's elf hat got turned backward before the performance began and looked more like a hat the pope might wear.
After Elyse's class sang their songs, the entire school came back up and they all sang "This Little Light of Mine" and "Feliz Navidad" together.
All the kiddos.
This little angel sat so patiently and quietly through the entire performance. She knew all the words to the songs Elyse was singing and I expected her to join in but I think she was too overwhelmed by the amount of people packed into the small chapel.
She may have temporarily been an elf for the Christmas performance but she went right back to being a princess as soon as we got home.
